Great class at Yates County Arts Council last week

Apple Paper Painting in progress
Apple Paper Painting in progress. I took the Elizabeth St. Hilaire Nelson’s Paper Painting class last week at the Yates County Arts Center in Penn Yan, NY. On the first of three days we watched a slide presentation of her pictures and techniques and then she did a demonstration of techniques for painting papers. Day two we tried our hand at it….mostly using our gelli plates. Have you ever used a gelli plate?  Day three….We practiced the “painting” part on our apple underpainting that was prepared before we got to class. I also started my second paper painting of a bike. Boy! I have a lot to learn! I am not very good at the ripping of the paper part. This is the apple piece I am currently working on. Check out what my work table looks like when I am creating this piece. Its a MESS! A BIG CREATIVE MESS and I LOVE IT!

Art Works Gallery annual juried art show opening Friday.

Line Dried
Line Dried    Watercolor    12 X 16

Please join us at the Seneca County Arts Council, Art Works gallery in Seneca Falls, NY this Friday, July 10 @ 5:30 to 7 PM for the annual juried art                   show open house event. I am entering two watercolor pieces.  I painted the one above titled Line Dried at our cottage on Seneca Lake.                          My niece Molly Lahr gave it it’s title. Its a fun summer themed watercolor.

This Love Wins watercolor below was painted in plein air at a beautiful cottage on Cayuga Lake. It is titled on behalf of the recent Supreme Court                                    decision to legalize gay marriage in all 50 states. I am in full support of this as I am of my beautiful sister Mary                                                                  who is now married to her partner Jane. I love you gals!
