What a beautiful day for painting. Peg and I joined up with the Penn Yan Art Guild to paint at the Iris Gardens today in Hall, NY. http://www.iriscountrygarden.com/

It was my first time there. I saw so many things I wanted to paint. I spent my first half hour walking around taking in the beautiful flower gardens, old barns and sheds and Country vistas. Oh my!! When I finally settled on a spot I did two small sketches but I really should have done some value studies. Some of the other ladies were painting nearby. There were a variety of mediums being used…oils, pastels, acrylics & watercolors. We had fun chatting about the morning doves scrambling around in an opening near the roof of one of the barns. We did get to meet both the old and new owners. They loved having all of us artists there and invited us back again! Eileen, who is an amazing watercolor artist organized a critique at the end. I am always a bit nervous about showing my painting but know that I always learn from them.

Here are some pictures.
