I think my life is getting back to normal now. Remember my post a couple of posts back? YUP! My oldest son Chris is married now to his lovely wife Alison. It was such a wonderful day…being surrounded by all of their family and friends who love them so much. They are very happy. Me too 🙂 I painted another piece inspired from Alisons pinterest board for their wedding gift. My first time using gold leaf. Take a look. Shhh!!!! They actually haven’t seen it yet 🙂
I loved the colors on this paper. If you look closely you can see the paper under the canvas. When I am painting I like to wipe the extra paint on my brushes and brayer off onto the paper I use to cover my table. I must be in a blue phase. They are ripped and placed on the canvas in a random pattern. I use matte gel medium to adhere them.
Next, what is a good complimentary color to blue? Use your color wheel if you don’t know. Yes! It’s Orange.
This is not finished yet. At this stage I am playing with color and composition. I have decided to do an acrylic abstract landscape painting using a palette knife. I am new to painting with palette knives. I LOVE how it feels and looks!
So….stay tuned…hoping to finish and post this tomorrow.
My son Gordy and his friend Chad have collaborated on a new t-shirt design. They are available on their new website at www.iheartfingerlakes.com and in local shops.
I went to the Ithaca art market today with my beautiful niece Demi and sister Melanie. WOW! A lot of local talent under one roof. So much to look at and get inspired about. I found my new friend Alice’s booth. I absolutely LOVE her work. I really must ask her where she got her clever biz name? Maybe I will interview her for one of my next posts.
I got some great booth ideas today too.
Yep! All of my nine paintings earned blue ribbons at the Seneca County Fair this year. I entered Jeans watercolor red barn, a mixed media painting of pigs and 7 abstracts. I am posting what I titled my abstract milk paint series.
These paintings are for sale. I think I will make some of these in a larger format. Do you like the colors?
Alison, my future daughter in law, pinned this picture to her art board on Pinterest.
Giving me a good idea for their wedding gift, I decided to give it a try. This is my piece. This is my first time mixing watercolor with acrylics. At first, I didn’t like it and I haven’t decided if it is finished yet. What do you think?
